RESIDUAL INDENTATION TESTER

A Residual Indentation Tester is a specialized piece of testing equipment used to measure the permanent deformation (or "sag") that remains on the surface of a material after a specific load has been applied for a period and then removed. It quantifies how well a material can recover its original shape after experiencing static compression.

• This tester is to test the residual indentation of floor material.
• The operator is to apply 356 N of load to the test specimen for 10 minutes (if the test specimen is foamed material 222 N of load for 5 minutes).
• After the testing time has past, remove the load and read the indentation depth of the test specimen when 60 minutes has passed after the load has been removed.

ASTM F970 : "Standard Test Method for Static Load Limit of Resilient Floor Coverings." This standard focuses on the recovery properties after a 24-hour static load and 24-hour recovery.

EN 433 : "Resilient floor coverings – Determination of residual indentation." (European Standard).

ISO 24343-1/2 : "Resilient and laminate floor coverings – Determination of indentation and residual indentation." These ISO standards are internationally recognized.

GB/T 4085 : A Chinese national standard related to resilient floor coverings.

JIS A 1454 / A 5705 : Japanese Industrial Standards for testing floor materials.
